    Donate a bike! Donate a Bike Have a Bike You no Longer Need? Clean out your garage and support the Park at the same time! Donated bikes are sold through our Bikes for Sale program, with proceeds supporting the free Borrow-a-Bike program. FOCHSP welcomes donations of bikes for adults and children in rideable condition—minimal rust, good tires and tubes, and working brakes and shifters (no adult trikes or tandem bikes please). Bring your donation to the Bike Barn next to the Nature Center Tuesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. (weather permitting, call 302-645-6852 to confirm hours). Donations delivered after hours can be left in the rack on the right-hand side of the Barn; our volunteers will secure them the next day. Charitable donation receipts provided on request. Thanks for your support!

  • Borrow a Bike | Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park

    Borrow a bike and ride for free! Check in at the Nature Center, provide your photo ID, and head over to Bike Barn where our team will help you find the perfect-sized bike for your adventure.  Borrow a Bike And ride for free! The Bike Barn is open Tuesday through Sunday with bikes available from 10:00am to 2 pm, weather permitting. Please note that during periods of extreme summer heat, the Bike Barn may close earlier than scheduled to protect the health and safety of our volunteers and visitors. We encourage you to confirm the Bike Barn’s operating status before your visit by calling the Park’s Nature Center at (302) 645-6852. For special requests and groups larger than 10 people, please contact us at least one week in advance to discuss your needs by emailing BikeBarn@FriendsOfCapeHenlopen.org . How to Borrow a Bike Check in at the Nature Center, provide your photo ID, and head over to Bike Barn where our team will help you find the perfect-sized bike for your adventure. Our Bike Fleet 45 adult bikes with baskets and bells 14 kids’ bikes 2 adult trikes 3 bike trailers Adult and children’s helmets are also available for loan All bikes have coaster brakes and no gear shift. Borrowing Guidelines Bikes may be borrowed for up to 2 hours Loans are first come first served Riders must remain within the park and on trails at all times All bikes must be returned by 2:45 p.m. At least one adult must accompany children All riders under 18 must wear helmets Children under 12 months of age are not allowed on bikes with infant seats or in trailers Groups of 10 or more riders please contact us at least a week in advance to discuss your requirements by emailing BikeBarn@FriendsOfCapeHenlopen.org

    2nd Annual Capturing the Cape a Digital Photography Contest Presented by the Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park Cape Henlopen State Park is where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean – a placed filled with scenic beaches, coastal landscapes, historic landmarks, trails, and incredible wildlife. The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park together with Coastal Camera Club, Nations Photo Lab and Cape Henlopen State Park, invite photographers of all skill levels to share their view of the park through Capturing the Cape , our all-digital photography contest. Whether you’re capturing dramatic landscapes, wildlife, or quiet moments along the shoreline, this is you chance to showcase Cape Henlopen State Park through your lens. 2026 Categories Black & White – Open to any subject within the park and must be presented in black & white or monochrome and should emphasize contrast, texture, form, or pattern. Landscape / Flora – Scenic views, beaches, dunes, trails, and plant life. Wildlife – Birds, mammals, marine life, insects, and other wildlife. Forests play a crucial role in mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, providing essential benefits to our environment and communities. Biden Environmental Training Center Project The FOCHSP is excited to announce the planting of 29 large-sized, native Shadbush, Cedar, and Loblolly trees, enhancing the beauty and environment of the area. Holland Glade Reforestation & Mitigation Project Join us in celebrating the recent planting of 92 trees at Holland Glade, thanks to the dedication of 45 volunteers from Dogfish Head Brewery. This initiative is a vital step towards enhancing the resilience of CHSP against climate change, fostering a healthier and more sustainable environment. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in our ecosystem and pave the way for a greener future for generations come.
